A Global Architectural Vision, Realised With Extraordinary Craftsmanship
The redevelopment of 90 Victoria Road stands as a rare fusion of world‑class design and uncompromising construction. Conceived by Wallace Cunningham, the award‑winning US architect renowned for sculptural, organic forms across the globe, the project embodies his signature mastery of curvature, light, and material expression. The result is a wellness centre that feels less like a building and more like a crafted piece of art.
Architecture Shaped by Craft, Materiality, and Light
Cunningham’s design called for a sweeping curved roofline, a central skylight that draws natural light deep into the space, and a material palette sourced from around the world.
Every detail was intentional, every junction refined, and every surface designed to contribute to a sense of calm, clarity, and spatial harmony.
Key architectural elements include:
• A sculpted curved roof that defines the building’s identity and required bespoke fabrication.
• A continuous skylight spine that washes the interior with soft, natural light.
• Travertine blocks sourced directly from an Italian quarry, selected for tone, texture, and authenticity.
• Titanium roofing panels imported from Europe, chosen for their durability, colour stability, and sculptural quality.
A Build Defined by Complexity and Precision
Delivering this design demanded a construction process as intricate as the architecture itself. The curved roof alone required a level of craftsmanship rarely seen in contemporary builds. Each titanium panel followed a diminishing pattern, meaning no two pieces were the same. Every panel was hand‑bent on site, shaped to fit the roof’s evolving geometry with millimetre accuracy.
The travertine Floor followed the same philosophy:
every stone was individually cut, aligned, and set to maintain the diminishing pattern and curvature of the design.
Additional construction achievements include:
• Custom‑cut tile patterns, each piece shaped individually to follow the building’s geometry.
• Advanced acoustic and thermal detailing integrated seamlessly into the architectural form.
• Specialist structural solutions to support the sweeping roof and skylight.
• Direct international procurement, coordinating logistics across multiple continents to secure authentic materials.
Sustainable Technology Embedded in the Architecture
The project incorporates geothermal technology, significantly improving energy efficiency while eliminating the need for traditional external condensers. This not only enhances performance but preserves the purity of the architectural form, keeping the building’s exterior clean, uncluttered, and true to Cunningham’s vision.
A Landmark Build of Global Quality
From concept to completion, the 90 Victoria Road Wellness Centre represents an exceptional collaboration between visionary design and meticulous construction. The combination of international materials, handcrafted detailing, and advanced building technologies has produced a space that is both sculptural and functional—an environment that elevates wellness through architecture.
This is a truly outstanding build: ambitious in design, exacting in execution, and timeless in its presence.
